TAKING SHAPE

As the first salon in Ireland to introduce the APG Tech ShapinPulse Laser Liposolution machine, L'OmBré Glenageary is already seeing a rise in demand for the non-invasive, body shaping solution

L'OmBré Glenageary launched the APG Tech ShapinPulse Laser Liposolution machine in September 2021, and six months later, the south Co Dublin salon is reporting a steady increase in demand for the service.

“It’s doing really well and we are getting great feedback, so we’re very happy with the investment,” says Gina Cannon, area manager, L'OmBré.

“It’s still a very new treatment, but appointments are already getting busier.”

With a background in hairdressing and make-up artistry, Cannon began her career with the Dublin salon group six years ago when she was appointed manager of the Tallaght branch. “We had four salons then, now we have nine, with 150 staff, and have plans to to keep growing and expanding. We are very excited for what the future of L'OmBré holds.”

Manufactured in Italy, the APG Tech ShapinPulse is an innovative technology for body shaping that specifically counteracts the localised and diffused fat deposits on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs and arms. Suitable for both men and women, the 1064 nm diode laser with pulsed emission performs a strong, yet gentle, action on the skin, to redefine the shape of the client’s body in 30 minutes. Single sessions of the non-invasive treatment are recommended for minor imperfections, while two sessions are recommended for significant imperfections.

“So far it’s appealing to a wide range of clients,” says Cannon. “’We are treating women from their early 20s to their early 50s. We’re also treating clients who are getting married, going abroad on holidays, and those who are struggling to loose that extra fat.”

Post-pandemic demand

Cannon believes that as we continue to move forward from Covid-19, the demand for ShapinPulse treatments will keep increasing. “I think a lot of people focused on exercise and activities such as walking during the pandemic, particularly for their mental health. What's great about the ShapinPulse is the fact that it removes the stubborn fat cells that are hard to get rid of by exercise alone. So there’s no time like the present for clients to try it.” appointments will be more sought after coming into the summer months. “As the treatment takes two sessions four weeks apart, we’re noticing that a lot of clients are starting to book now in order to get summer ready.”

The device is hugely beneficial for both the salon, staff and clients, according to Cannon. “One of ShapinPulse’s main She also predicts that advantages is how fast and easy the treatment is to complete. Any therapist who has studied face and body electrical treatments can be trained in how to use it; the procedure is very straightforward, making it very easy for our therapists to perform. The session only takes 30 minutes, and the therapist leaves the room for 20 minutes of that. It’s great for clients as it is fast, pain-free and effective. And for the salon, it is very cost-effective and profitable.”

Cannon believes that an offering such as the ShapinPulse gives the Glenageary branch a competitive edge, especially as it had already launched other aesthetic treatments there. And it’s attracted new business to the salon.

“The Glenageary branch is where we first introduced our laser hair removal service, which is also doing extremely well,” she explains. “It is the only machine in Ireland that works on all skin and hair types.

“In addition, we do more advanced treatments such as microdermabrasion. So it made sense to launch the ShapinPulse machine in Glenageary first. We’ve noticed now that clients who are coming in for a session are very impressed with the results and are booking these other services.”
