She is also the brand ambassador for skin rejuvenation system Byonik

What's your earliest memory?

My earliest memories would be those in my first home when I was three or four. I can clearly remember my cat Judge went missing and my mum told me he had the measles and went to heaven. I think the real story was that he got knocked down!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

There are so many, but ultimately my mum, who played a pivotal role in establishing the beauty industry in Ireland. She was and is an incredible woman; it still amazes me how she accomplished all that she did – the beauty school, the salons, writing her weekly beauty column in The Sunday Press for 25 years and her skincare line. I have learnt so much from her, and she truly inspires me each and every day.

What was your first job?

Working as receptionist in the Monkstown salon we had when I was about 14. It was my Saturday job and I also worked there during school holidays. I would answer the phones, make appointments, clean and help out where I could. I loved it. I had a very fetching blue uniform too!

Ideal holiday destination?

As a family, we love Portugal. It’s not too far away, and I’m not particularly keen on flying, so this is about as far as I’m comfortable to go. It’s so laid back there, and I always completely relax and unwind.

Favourite food?

Everything from Pilgrim’s in Rosscarbery. I am blessed to have this wonderful restaurant down the road from me in West Cork.

Favourite drink?

I love a glass of bubbles, and I’m also partial to an Aperol spritz. I drink a lot of herbal tea, and Yogi and Pukka Teas are my favourites.

‘I’m on a mission to make every client aware of the importance of adopting good sunscreen behaviour’

How do you relax?

I love yoga, as it really helps me to unwind and relax. I also enjoy watching a good Netflix series or an episode of Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, which is complete escapism. To be honest, I find doing nothing very relaxing – sometimes it’s good to just stop.

What was the last great film or series you watched?

My Brilliant Friend on Sky Atlantic. Based on the novels by Elena Ferrante, it is absorbing, gripping and an utterly beautiful adaptation of her work.

Dream dinner party guest/guests (alive or dead)?

It would definitely be my late father Liam and my own family. My husband Brendan and my two daughters never met him as he passed away back in 2005, so I would love for them to meet and to have all of us together.

Do you cook and, if so, do you have a signature recipe?

I do occasionally when I have the time. It’s usually some sort of vegetarian or pasta dish. As for a signature recipe, the girls would probably say my roast chicken dinner or one of my pasta bakes.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Treat others as you would like to be treated – that is something I have also instilled in my own children.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever given?

From a work point of view, it would be to wear SPF every day. I’m on a mission to make every client aware of the importance of adopting good sunscreen behaviour.

Have you learned any valuable lessons from the pandemic?

The importance of time together as a family, and having a work-family balance. I also learned that while planning is good, adaptability is the key to it all. And lastly, our health is our wealth.

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?

That’s like asking me to choose my favourite child! I can’t just pick one, so seeing as I have two children, I’ll go with Dermaviduals DMS Cleansing Milk and AlumierMD Clear Shield SPF.

What, if anything, would you now tell your 16-year-old self?

Lots! Grasp every opportunity, and never be afraid to fail. You don’t want to look back on life regretting the things you didn’t do. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and also have fun along the way.

How would you like to be remembered?

Ass a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister.
