As a new year begins, there is no shortage of CPD options available to hair and beauty professionals of all levels

1 Gainfort Academy

Gainfort Academy in Wexford has a range of upskilling options, including its Specialised Waxing course on 30 January. Developed to help beauty therapists achieve the best results in treatments such as Hollywood and Brazilian waxing, the course is designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to provide an expert service in the salon.


2 Wella Professionals

Upcoming courses in Wella Studio Dublin include Blonde Expert, a blonding masterclass taught in two parts. The first class (on 17 January or 27 February) will look at the basics of achieving a clean lift, while the second class (on 18 January or 28 February) will cover more challenging lightening scenarios. Lights & Tone, a masterclass in toning, takes place on 30 January, while Retail, Refer, Rebook – ahalf-day session with Liz McKeon – takes place on 27 February.


3 Galligan College

Galligan College's Postgraduate Advanced Skincare course is aimed at qualified beauty therapists looking to upskill and move into the advanced skincare industry. It covers a variety of treatments, including laser and IPL, chemical peels, and microneedling. galligancollege.ie

Catering for all levels of experience, Accademia has a variety of options for professionals looking to upskill in particular areas. From cutting, colouring and upstyling, to business classes, courses cover all aspects of the industry, and are aimed at helping participants get the most out of their career, team or business.


5 Kilkenny College of Beauty & Sports Therapy

The CIDESCO Diploma in Beauty Therapy (postgraduate) offers qualified face and body therapists with other awarding bodies (iTEC/CIBTAC), who also have a minimum of three years' commercial experience, the opportunity to add the CIDESCO international qualification to their CV. The course is tailor-made to suit each student’s individual needs, and covers all relevant subjects.


6 milk_shake

milk_shake ambassador David Barker will be in Cork on 26 and 27 February to teach his ABC Cutting 1.0 and 2.0 courses, while milk_shake colour ambassador Scott Thomas will be in Cork on 23 and 24 April to teach her Blonde Bombshell and Balay That Babe courses.


7 Suzanne Egan Academy

Beauty professionals who are looking to add to their existing qualifications can choose from a range of brow and lash technician courses at Suzanne Egan Academy. These include the Lash Lift & Brow Lamination Master Course with Henna Fusion, which is aimed at qualified brow artists who would like to add this combined technique to their treatment menu.


8 Schwarzkopf Professional

There is a wide selection of 2023 courses available from Schwarzkopf Professional, including Mastering Classic Cutting in Dublin on 27 April, Mastering Modern Styling in Dublin on 8 May, and All About Igora Essential in Cork on 8 May and Dublin on 17 May.


9 L'Oréal Access

L'Oréal Professionnel's learning hub has a wide range of courses available for 2023, including Bombshell Brunettes/ Ravishing Reds, Colour Correction, Principles of Science, Bonds and Haircare, Principles of Back Bar, Styling and Dressing Hair, Understanding Curls, and Matrix in-salon training.


10 Image Skillnet

Image Skillnet is running a range of courses in 2023, including Not Another Business Course with Sophia Hilton on 16 January, which consists of a one-day live course taking place in Dublin, along with an online programme to include material from the live day. Online courses include Oncology Aesthetics Training for Beauticians/Hairdressers, which is delivered by Louise O'Loughlin, OTI Ireland.
