Professional Beauty & Hair 2023, in partnership with Irish Beauty and headline sponsor Treatwell, takes place in Dublin's RDS on 28-29 May – here's a sneak peek of what is happening at Ireland's ultimate beauty and hair event!

IN IT TO WIN IT!

Looking to raise your profile as a nail tech or make-up artist? Enter the Nail and Make-up Competitions at this year's Professional Beauty & Hair to cement yourself as one of the best in the business.

Back this year are our two-day Nail Competitions, in association with the Federation of Nail Professionals, which gives both students and nail professionals the opportunity to show off their skills across eight categories, as they compete for the top prizes.

On the first day, competitors can enter in three categories: Competition Nails (Professional), Shape of Your Art (Professional), where entrants create extreme nail shapes and designs, and Learn a Skill (Professional and Student), in which you watch the live skill demo from a leading tech, learn a skill and then repeat it with your own twist.

On the second day, both students and professionals take part in three categories: Salon Nail, Gel Polish, and Manicure.

There are also two Off the Floor categories – Insta Nails, where you submit an image you would be proud to showcase on your business Instagram page, and Catwalk Showcase, where competitors create 10 press-ons, showcased in a box with a clear lid, which may also be decorated.

This year's event will also feature the Make-up Competitions, hosted by Irish eauty. From bodypainting to editorial and film looks, these competitions are per fect for MUAs looking to make their mark and literally stand out from the competition.

Off the floor, MUAs will be invited to submit images with particular themes, which will be then be judged by a specialist panel

BEST IN BRANDS

From the latest launches to the hottest products, visitors can browse the stands of the biggest brands as they showcase their most recent innovations in skincare, hair, barbering, aesthetic devices, nails, make-up and much more.

HAIR & BARBERING STAGE

Presented by Hairdressers Journal International and Modern Bar ber, and free to attend, the Hair & Barbering Stage promises to be full of tips and tricks to help you stay ahead of the curve and be prepared to meet all client requests.

We are so excited to welcome Dom Seely to this platform on both days at Professional Beauty & Hair. Fully qualified by the time he was 16, the celebrity hairdresser went on to open his own salon, before going freelance when he was 23. With over 30,000 followers on Instagram, he has styled hair for big names such as Montana Brown and Olivia Culpo. A big believer in being authentic and staying true to himself, he knows how to hone his craft, find a niche in the market and get noticed. Hugely passionate about education, he's on a mission to teach others what he has learned, so you will not want to miss what he has to impart!

Owner of the Bareknuckle Barbershop in Derry, Greg McNeil is another name we're hugely excited to feature in the line-up. McNeil's business acumen saw him use the time in lockdown to plan an expansion, adding new premises to his barbershop chain. He and his team are also the official artists' barbers for music promoter MCD, which has led to them adding Post Malone, Rag'n'Bone Man, George Ezra, Snow Patrol and Dermot Kennedy to their client portfolio.

SKIN& ADVANCE D TREATMENTS STAGE

Hosted by Claudia McGloin, specialist medical aesthetic nurse and clinical director of The New You Clinic in Sligo, the Skin & Advanced Treatments Stage is back for 2023.

Among the speaker line-up is Lisa Moroney, owner of Skin Smart Clinic in Dublin, who will give a talk on the things to consider when adding laser treatments to your menu. These treatments have grown in popularity in Ireland over the past number of years, with clients opting to have laser hair removal, as well as a wide range of laser facial treatments. From acne and rosacea, to pigmentation and sun damage, Moroney will outline the business benefits of introducing a device to your salon, while explaining what treatments might work best for different types of salons.

TRENDS& TECHNIQUES STAGE

The Trends & Techniques Stage will offer you the opportunity to catch up on what is currently driving the industry. MUA Evelyn Byrne will be on hand to show you how to create the iconic angel make-up look, which has taken T ikTok by storm over the last year.

Meanwhile, waxing therapist Gillian Redmond will address the topic of intimate female waxing, and how this specialist area requires a particular level of knowledge, understanding and client care.

For all updates and announcements about the show, stay tuned to professionalbeauty.ie/show so you are the first to hear the newest additions to the line-up!
