NAILING IT!

With eight categories across two days, this year’s Nail Competitions are an exciting way for both budding and established nail technicians to demonstrate their skills and creativity

The Federation of Nail Professionals (FNP) and Professional Beauty & Hair are collaborating once again to bring you the Nail Competitions at this year’s show. With eight exciting categories, entrants are being invited to show off their skills and battle it out for the chance to raise their profile in the industry.

SUNDAY, 28 MAY

The first day of Professional Beauty & Hair will see the Nail Competitions kick off at 9.30am, with three exciting categories for you to enter.

1COMPETITION NAILS

This category is your opportunity to create the perfect, classic competition nail in pink and white in a system of your choice (liquid and powder or UV cured gel products), with either tip and overlay, or sculpt.

2LEARN A SKILL

This unique category offers you the chance to both learn and compete. Watch the live skill demonstration, learn a skill, repeat the skill and then create your interpretation of the skill.

3SHAPE OF YOUR ART

Create your preferred extreme nail shape and let your imagination go wild when you embed or embellish these nails in a design of your choice.

MONDAY, 29 MAY

The Nail Competitions continue at 10.30am on Monday, 29 May with three more categories.

1 MANICURE

Show your skills and how you care for the natural nail and surrounding skin by completing a standard manicure across both hands, with polish on one hand only, to include French and dark.

2 GEL POLISH, SPONSORED BY GELISH

Demonstrate your gel polish application, highlighting your cuticle work, and file and shape skills on both hands – one hand French, one hand crème dark.

3 SALON NAIL

Rounding off the day is this category, which asks you to create the perfect salon nail in a system of your choice (liquid and powder or UV cured product) with either tip and overlay, or sculpt, and using crème dark polish, not pink and white.

OFFLINE/OFF THE FLOOR

There are two online/off the floor categories with the theme Mother Nature.

1 INSTAGRAM PHOTOGRAPHY

Create a photo you would be proud to share on your Instagram business page, showcasing your skills and your creativity. The closing date is 15 May 2023.

2 CATWALK SHOWCASE

Create 10 press ons/nail tips that are wearable in a catwalk scenario. They must be presented in a box with a clear lid, labelled 'Catwalk Showcase', and posted to Allington House, 25 High Street, Wimbledon Village, SW19 5DX, UK by 15 May 2023. You can also bring your entries to the show.

You can use the same tips in these two categories, so why not enter both! Entry fees are €35 for professionals and €15 for students, and the results will be announced at Professional Beauty & Hair on Monday, 29 May.
