This year sees the exciting launch of our Make-up Competitions, which are the perfect way for talented and ambitious MUAs to show off their creative flair

Hosted by Irish Beauty, the Make-up Competitions at Professional Beauty & Hair will take place over the two days of the show, and from movie star glamour to catwalk creations, there's something for every MUA. The Professional Competitions will take place on Sunday, 28 May, with three categories to choose from.

1 HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR (FACE AND COSTUME)

We want you to showcase your idea of Hollywood Glamour through make-up application and costume. Think overthe-top glamour, an all-eyes-on-me spectacle, which is Met Gala-ready, but with your very own unique and personal twist! Your invitation may have been lost in the post this year, but this look puts you first in the queue to receive your handdelivered invite to the next 'IT' event. It's all about being glamorous, and being remembered!

2 INTO THE FUTURE (FACE AND BODY)

With technology and AI (artificial intelligence) making huge advances in recent years, we want to see ‘Into the Future’ with your creativity and make-up application in this category. For instance, how extreme could your look be using prosthetics? What are the ways in which you can incorporate technology into creating your overall aesthetic? Can you push the boundaries and see ‘Into the Future’ of our make-up industry?

3 CARNIVAL COUTURE (FACE AND COSTUME)

When it comes to carnival, it’s all or nothing! Picture the colourful streets of Rio Carnival meeting an eclectic collection of circus acts. Carnival Couture invites you to create your own colour palette. We want you to throw all the energy you have into this look, gaining the confidence of those dizzying circus heights, and leaving it all on the streets of Rio – or the RDS in Dublin!

The Student Competitions, which feature two categories, will take place on Monday, 29 May.

1 THE BEST OF BRIDAL (FACE AND COSTUME)

A great make-up artist gives a bride the extra confidence she requires on the most important day of her life. She must be happy when she checks the mirror for the final time before getting married. Will our judging panel be blown away by your finished look? That's who you need impress on competition day!

2 THE HISTORY OF CATWALK (FACE AND COSTUME)

Take a stroll down memory lane and be inspired by famous fashion designers, or one of their collections. Just like couture, there are no limits to your creation. From Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld, to London, Paris and Milan, we are looking for an overall look that encapsulates ‘The History of Catwalk’.

DIGITAL DIRECTION

The Pre-show Digital Takeover Competition is open to all levels and abilities, and is eligible for the Public Vote and Judges' Choice Awards. This is your opportunity to show us your makeup and digital skills through a TikTok video or Reel on Instagram. We are searching for Monochromatic Mayhem or Coquette Beauty, and we want to see your journey from the beginning to your finished look, with the use of transitions.
