The Nail Competitions at Professional Beauty & Hair recognised both professional and student nails techs who stood out for their talent and creative skills

The Federation of Nail Professionals (FNP) and Professional Beauty & Hair collaborated once again at this year's show to bring you the Nail Competitions, sponsored by Glitterbels.

With eight exciting categories, entrants were invited to show off their skills and battle it out for the chance to raise their profile in the industry.

Led by award-winning nail artist and influencer Kirsty Meakin, the panel of judges included well-known industry names, such as Amie Heary, Emma Harris, Caroline Carrick, Hazel Dixon, Scarlett Senter, Susan McGirl, Daniela Orlea, Adriana Onofrei and Cliona Sweeney.

Meakin said she was hugely impressed by the overall standard of this year's entries and encouraged all nail techs to keep putting themselves forward for competitions.

“It’s really important to enter them. I know from my own experience as a professional nail tech, when you’re in the salon doing nails day in, day out, you do the same thing all the time, and you don’t necessarily get the chance to push your boundaries.

“Competitions really stretch your abilities – the experience is invaluable for upping your skills level, along with increasing your mental capacity. You get to showcase exactly what you can do because you have the time and the products, and you know there are competitors vying with you for that trophy. Competitions also raise your profile in the industry, and are great for attracting new clients.”
