WHAT'S ON SHOW!
Professional Beauty & Hair, which takes place on 9-10 March at the RDS in Dublin, will feature brands, education, skills demos, insights, inspiration, competitions, networking and more. Here’s a sneak peek at some of what you can expect over the two days
HAIR & BARBERING STAGE
Hosted by Hairdressers Journal International and Modern Barber, the Hair & Barbering Stage is the ideal place for you to enhance your knowledge and skills with our line-up of experts, who will demonstrate cutting-edge techniques and trends to help you take your salon to the next level.
Kicking things off on Sunday, 9 March is Patrick Browne from Menspire, which has two barbers and an academy in Dublin. Browne will be followed by Nirvana Margarini, owner of Organic Italian Hairdressing in Dublin; and Mark Sherwood, stylist, colour specialist and educator with Zeba in Dublin, who has both won and come second in the L’Oréal Colour Trophy competition.
Also taking to the stage on Sunday is Simon Houston, owner of Houston Hair in Ballymena in Northern Ireland. Houston is a British Hairdressing Awards finalist and winner of Irish Hairdresser of the Year at the Beauty, Hair & Spa Awards 2024. He will be followed by Revlon Professional’s UKI artistic ambassador Danilo Giangreco, who is an award-winning stylist and salon owner; and visionary talent and Revlon Professional’s UKI creative artist Emy Roccabella.
Rounding up Sunday’s experts are Matakki Scissors ambassador Dee McCourt, who is a master barber and owner of Hoo3ed in Co Derry; and Sean Taaffe, owner of Sean Taaffe Hair & Beauty in Co Kerry, which has three salons, along with Sean Taaffe Education.
Monday’s line-up will include Paul Davey, multi-award winning hairdresser and owner of Davey Dublin; and Phil Jarman, British grand master barber, international educator and owner of The Phil Jarman Academy.
They will be followed by Revlon Professional’s UKI creative artist Mark Nesbitt, who is a master stylist, educator and co-owner of Macc Hair in Belfast; and hair loss and scalp educator Aileen Maher, who owns Hair, Scalp Wig Therapy by Aileen Maher.
BEAUTY STAGE
The Beauty Stage will see some well-known industry names give talks, demos and lots of inspiration.
First up on Sunday, 9 March is nail artist Kirsty Meakin, who will do a ‘Learn a skill’ demo as part of the Nail Competitions.
Iguazu Beauty and Oncology Training International (OTI) Ireland owner Louise O’Loughlin’s
‘Success at every level’ talk will cover everything you need to know and do to achieve success in your salon.
MUA Jessy Malone will demonstrate how to create a bronzed, soft glam look; Fabu Wellness owner Laura Dowling will give a talk entitled ‘What does beauty have to do with your vulva?’; and Eden Beauty Group owner Susan Fox will share her expertise on exosomes and bioneedling.
Salon SOUL, a first-of-its-kind panel discussion, will be hosted by Greg Clarke, owner of Amica Eco Hairdressing in Dublin. This will see top industry leaders tackle the biggest challenges facing salons. Joining Clarke are Paul Dromgoole, owner of Zeba in Dublin; Valerie Finnegan Cahill, owner of Ikon Hair and VF Consultancy in Cork; Samantha Byrne, owner of Vanilla Hair Design in Co Carlow; Rossa Danagher, owner of Rossano’s Hair & Beauty in Co Sligo and Co Donegal; and Margaret O’Rourke Doherty, CEO of Image Skillnet.
Wrapping up Sunday is the ‘Phorest Benchmark Report: Data that truly matters for your salon’ session, which will deliver insights to empower salons to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
On Monday, 10 March, the Beauty Stage will host the TanOrganic Professional launch with owner Noelle O’Connor, brand ambassador Rosanna Davidson and distributor Louise O’Loughlin. This will include a professional tan demo.
Nail tech Gemma McCarthy will do a specialist nail demo that will both inspire and educate, while Lash Doll’s Beauty & Training Academy owner Karen Grehan will talk about the advantages of skills-based learning.
