KERRY HANAPHY

Kerry Hanaphy is the owner of the Kerry Hanaphy Clinic, which has branches in Swords, Citywest and South William Street in Dublin

What’s your earliest memory?

I have very vivid memories of playing in the garden with the hose when I was growing up in Australia. It was such a peaceful childhood.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I always say that my two daughters are my biggest inspiration. Both of them have played a part in building the Kerry Hanaphy business. Individually they have such unique personalities, and I am so unbelievably proud of the women they have grown up to be. They are strong, powerful and independent.

What was your first job?

I was a trainee nurse in the hospital in Harold’s Cross in Dublin. That shaped who I am today.

Ideal holiday destination?

Bora Bora. I love everything about it – flying in over the deep blue sea, sleeping in an overwater luxury hut and enjoying a minimum of two weeks of relaxation.

Favourite food?

That would have to be Indian food. You just cannot beat the complexities of all the different flavours.

Favourite drink?

Champagne – always!

How do you relax?

I really love getting massages. They have the effect of relaxing me instantly.

What was the last great film or series that you watched?

The Last Of Us – and it was absolutely incredible.

Dream dinner guest/guests (alive or dead)?

I would do anything to have my dad back for one more dinner.

Do you cook and, if so, do you have a signature recipe?

I’m not one for cooking, if I’m honest. But I’m very lucky to have an in-house chef with my fabulous partner Barry. He takes care of the meals, and they’re perfect every time.

‘I’m a hard worker, and I have always been a hard worker – that is what has built the Kerry Hanaphy brand to what it is today’

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The brave leave and the scared stay. That is definitely the best advice I have ever gotten. I’ve lived by that motto, and I have taken the risks – and so far they’ve all paid off.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever given?

The same as the best advice I’ve received – that the brave leave and the scared stay! I have instilled this in my daughters, in particular. I always say that you only live once, so take those risks.

Have you changed the way you run your business since the pandemic?

What the pandemic did was shift my priorities, so I now take more time for myself and my family. I’m in a very privileged position to be able to travel more as I’ve built a brilliant team who keep the clinics running.

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?

SPF, without a doubt. It’s an essential part of my day-to-day routine, and I tell all my clients that it needs to be an essential part of their routines too – even in winter.

Favourite thing about yourself?

It has to be my grit. I’m a hard worker, and I have always been a hard worker – that is what has built the Kerry Hanaphy brand to what it is today.

What, if anything, would you now tell your 16-year-old self?

I would tell myself to live life and enjoy it because you only get one!

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to be remember as someone who was strong-willed and accepting of everything in life.
