2 Learn with Wella

Wella is kicking off 2021 with a number of courses in its Dublin studio, including Colour Craft Essential (12-13 January and 8-9 February); Colour Craft Highlights (27 January); and Blonde Toolbox (10 February). Cutting courses include Essential Cutting (15 February); and Advanced Cutting (8 February). Wella also has a wide range of online learning on offer, with webinars and Zoom classes available to suit individual needs.

3 L’Oréal ACCESS 

L’Oréal ACCESS held a special webinar in December, where education consultants gave a preview of what education courses are running in 2021. L’Oréal began the rollout of its global e-learning and networking platform in late 2019, with momentum building throughout 2020 due to the rapid digital adoption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The digital hub features L’Oréal brands’ educational content, localised from all countries, ranging from product launches and digital upskilling, to trend discovery, techniques mastery and business management. Training is offered in a variety of digital learning  channels, including tutorials, webinars and pedagogical e-modules. The 2021 calendar features a diversity of topics, such as artistic toning, colour removal, front of house, scalp care, maximising retail, and much more.

4 Alfaparf Milano

Accademia in Dublin is running a number of Alfaparf Milano colour courses, including the Introduction to Balayage & Ombre on 18 January; and 4, 16 and 25 February. Designed to help students perfect their freehand technique, it’s suitable for those experienced in balayage, or completely new to it. Taking place from 10am to 4.30pm, the day is a combination of theory and practice, with a mannequin head and technical products provided. Costing €200, the class is limited to six students, one per salon.

5 Butterfly Effect 

BE Permanent Make-up and Advanced Beauty Academy is part of Butterfl y Effect beauty salon in Rathfarnham in Dublin. The academy is run by permanent make-up specialist Aleksandra Pawlak. Training is provided on a one-to-one basis, and includes a range of PMU techniques, as well as microdermabrasion training and microneedling. Applicants must be qualifi ed beauty therapists or make-up artists.

6 Blended learning from Bronwyn Conroy

The iTEC Facial Skincare/Facial Electrics and Microdermabrasion from Bronwyn Conroy starts on 16 January in Dublin and Cork, with the course featuring a blended learning approach over the duration of the 24 weeks. Zoom classes will be mixed with practical classes, while the online anatomy and physiology the online anatomy and physiology element is completed at home. 8 Salon Systems and Procedures

This course, which is taught by Trish O’Brien of Waxperts, gives guidance, advice and templates to build your own salon systems and procedures. Aimed at salon owners or managers, the course promises to provide you with the knowledge to run your salon smoothly, while giving your team clear and helpful guidelines on all aspects of their roles. Delivered online, it costs €49, and comes with one year’s access, so you can study in your own time.

9 Crystal Nails

The three-day Acrylic Nails course from Crystal Nails in Dublin covers all aspects of building acrylic nails. It is suitable for beginners, as well as those looking for a refresher course. Taking place on January 16, 23 and 30; and February 14, 21 and 28, you will receive a full kit in advance, and a certifi cate upon successful completion. Topics covered include hygiene/salon safety, nail anatomy and product knowledge, and the course costs €450.
