Welcome to the fi rst issue of Professional Beauty and Hairdressers Journal Ireland for 2021. As the last month of 2020 saw the country’s Level 5 restrictions lift, the hair and beauty industry enjoyed a very busy December. The six-week lockdown, coupled with the pre-Christmas rush, meant many salons were fully booked as client demand for appointments reached an all-time high.

Our columnists in this issue share some insights on how to build on that momentum. Whether it’s working on your client base, or investing in a mentoring partnership, now is the time for action. If upskilling or professional development are among your New Year’s resolutions, our education feature outlines a range of course options. Other highlights include a round-up of the best products in professional tanning, and the top tools for your brushes and combs kit. 

After the challenges of 2020, there’s probably never been a more welcome new year than 2021. It begins on a positive and optimistic note, as the sector is back in business, doing what it does best. Also back for 2021 is our annual show, with Ireland’s leading event for hair, beauty and spa professionals set to take place on 7-8 November in the new location of Citywest Dublin. There will be no better way to reboot, reconnect and reunite with the industry.

As part of our two days of exhibits, talks, workshops, demos, live stages, networking and much more, the inaugural Professional Beauty and Hairdressers Journal Ireland Awards will take place on 7 November, and we’re delighted to announce that entries are now open.
